Canada, On... Finance Bioenterprise Cap... Partner General Managing Dave Smardon has a background in establishing, growing and financing technology-based companies. Early in his career, Mr. Smardon held a variety of mid-to senior level positions with corporations including Texas Instruments Inc., Unisys Corporation, Meridian Technologies and Apple Computer Inc. In 1984, Mr. Smardon began a career as an entrepreneur establishing Learning Connections, an educational software company. In less than 15 months, he built the start-up company to one of Canada’s leading educational software companies and sold it to Unisys Corporation. In 1993, he founded Commcorp Technologies Inc., a spin-off company, providing technology outsourcing and software, servicing the financial and banking communities. The company was sold in 1995. From 1986 through 1990 Mr. Smardon headed up Apple Computer's Canadian venture capital activities. It was this experience that led to his establishing the Nibiru group of companies including Nibiru Tactical Corporation, Nibiru Investments, Nibiru Corporate Finance Ltd., and Nibiru Capital Management Limited. These entities provided venture capital and hands-on operational management to high growth technology-based companies. In addition, they provided advisory, due diligence and investment syndication services to the institutional investment communities. Mr. Smardon is known within the Canadian venture capital industry for his expertise in financing and growing start-up and emerging technology businesses. Currently, Mr. Smardon quarterbacks a large informal private investor network. He is also President, CEO and Director of the Bioenterprise Corporation, an initiative focused on emerging stage bio-product, agri-technology and life sciences companies.
