United States, Te... "Business Summary Developed under the premise that no two minds are alike, Einstein’s Gym is a learning center like no other that exists today. Catering to preschool kids through adults, the Gym offers a personalized approach to tutoring and classroom learning in a fun and innovative atmosphere. Students come to the Gym for comprehensive learning programs that combine the power of individual tutoring, classroom instruction and study-hall learning. A unique atmosphere is evident in the Gym’s staff and dÚcor that excites and motivates its customers: Youthful, energetic and innovative, Einstein’s Gym is the one stop to train and develop any mind. Mission Understanding that no two minds are alike, we aim to develop personalized learning programs that fit the needs of each student while motivating and exciting them in their quest for “mental fitness and advancement”. Philosophy Our philosophy in developing the Gym’s atmosphere follows that of Apple Computer’s “Think Different” campaign . To truly inspire – to truly incite imagination, exploration, and learning one must “think differently”. So… how do we think differently? We believe that learning is more than just throwing the student together in a one-size-fits-all curriculum, with a binder on a gray desk in front of an uninterested tutor. A learning center must have a social atmosphere, fun and lively. It is a place where parents feel confident leaving their kids and where students of all ages are excited to spend their time. Because we are all different, the learning center experience must be different for each student. Learning must be effective no matter what the individual’s level or goals. Market Opportunity The landscape of learning has never looked more promising for companies in the business of supplemental education. Politics, economics and technology are key growth drivers. This is evident in the business growth of current learning center players such as Sylvan, Kumon, and Score which have seen significant expansions in their operations. Consumers are driving this growth because of a thirst for knowledge however, current market players do not provide them with the quality product they are seeking. A truly comprehensive learning center, which provides personalized instruction in a fun and motivating atmosphere, does not yet exist. Current offerings follow rigid curriculums that do not encompass the total needs of students. Moreover, the atmosphere of current learning centers ranges from uninspirational to downright disheartening. By offering a product that is currently unavailable to consumers, in a market which has proven demand, Einstein’s Gym can effectively leverage the growth of the supplemental learning market and draw consumers away from current market players. Strategy Einstein’s Gym understands that training the mind is like training the body. Since no two minds are the same and since different individuals have unique goals which they wish to achieve, the Gym must offer a comprehensive set of tools and resources to train its “members”. The Gym must offer “something for everyone”. Skilled learning counselors must help members design a program that best utilizes the available resources in order to meet personal objectives. Most importantly, as is the case in physical training, the learning atmosphere must keep students motivated and excited so that they continue on their paths to meeting their expectations. To deliver these key components and create the Einstein’s Gym concept, the Company will: - Re-invent the learning center’s aesthetic and functional atmosphere - Focus on personalized one-on-one tutoring while offering small group instruction, technology resources and study hall facilities to “round-out” customers’ learning experiences - Hire energetic tutors from local university communities - Provide each student with a comprehensive initial evaluation and follow-up program that is conducted by a qualified learning counselor The Einstein’s Gym concept will be “proven” at a pilot location in Houston and later expanded within the local area (to meet demand) as well as other areas of the country. Objectives Management’s short-term objective is to open a flagship Gym in the Galleria area of Houston by January 1st, 2000. We intend to meet our enrollment targets discussed in our financial projections within two months of opening our doors (three months for “tiny-tots” classes). ...
